The ghost now comes directly at you instead of only following your x and y axis like in Spelunky 1, which makes it so much harder to line the ghost up with gems. I get that all the different ghost forms are to make you get out of the level quicker, making ghosting something you have to carefully plan out beforehand and quickly leave the level afterwards, which I think is a good changeup to Spelunky 1, but there are so many other things that make ghosting so much more of an annoyance to do.
